This was a pretty cool place. I didn't know the check in was completely online until I walked up to the building, but it was easy to figure out. The room was clean and just what I needed for thus trip.

Our stay here was very nice. It was a pretty good price for our stay. The room was themed as the Garden room with flowers and such. Adds a nice touch! We had a microwave, a mini fridge and freezer, a nice TV with Netflix on it that you could swivel to whichever way you wanted. The beds were comfy and clean. The heating system was effective and quiet. The ability to unlock the door simply by typing in the code was great too, we didn't have to worry about losing a card. If we did forget the code, we could always look at our phone to look it up.

This place is so cute! Well thought out design with a fridge, microwave, nice little spot to eat, comfortable beds, a smart TV with Netflix included, soft fluffy towels. It's in a great location with walkable access to restaurants and shops, and an easy drive to the big lake as well as other fun local recreation. The owners clearly put a lot of care into redoing this charming vintage motel. They kept the character while making the right updates to make it work well for modern guests. The floors are vinyl, so they're soft underfoot but also very practical for tracking in sand from adventures. Electrical outlets were not as plentiful as I would have liked. If you have a battery powered lamp it might come in handy, as there was no lamp on the table between the beds. A couple of things to note if you happen to have autistic or sensory sensitive family members: the soap, shampoo, and lotion are heavily fragranced so you may want to bring your own if that's an issue. The water pressure in the shower is very high, which I loved but my daughter had a hard time with. (It's not really adjustable, if you turn the pressure down it just kind of turns into a more concentrated stream... sort of hard to describe.) The beds and floors are a bit creaky, so you may want to bring white noise if you have a light sleeper or someone sensitive to sound. Overall I recommend this place and will stay there again if we come back to Whitehall!

When I found out the Whitehall cottages were family owned, I was so glad I chose them over any chain motel. As the owner of a small painting company in southeast Michigan, I strive to support family owned and small business owners. The vintage charm of my room as I walked around inspecting it, fit my life to a T! The theme of the room is "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." My favorite aspects were the cleanliness, the complimentary refreshments and snacks, and the ease of checking in and out. I loved the comforting feeling of my room, it felt like an actual cottage! 10/10, will stay again!

Our stay was awesome!! The owner was very quick to respond to me about any and all questions I had. The only thing was that our ac wouldn’t work or we just couldn’t figure it out. But the room stayed pretty cool so it wasn’t a huge deal. Other than that this place was awesome. Will definitely be coming back to stay again!:)

Amazing stay! I loved the room, area was safe, the restaurant across the street was within walking distance (ate there the whole time during our stay). Two nights here after tax was about $180 for the Full Size Bed Room. It's easy to check-in & open the door. Just follow the instructions they send to your email. Would stay here again when in the area!

We stayed in the Royal Suite and was thoroughly impressed! It has a large living room area, full kitchen, and two spacious bedrooms. It is decorated so cute and creates a very cozy atmosphere. I loved the location being within walking distance to a yummy restaurant, ice cream shop, Wesco gas station, and Subway. About a quarter mile down the road is a nice park with a beautiful bike/walking path. Although the suite of the motel is located on a busy street, I could not hear the road traffic at all at night. This is a great place to stay for families where there’s plenty of space to spread out. WiFi worked great too! We felt like we were home and didn’t want to leave! Looking forward to coming back someday!

I have stayed at Whitehall Cottages three times. Once in the large family room, and twice in a small dual bed (flower room). Bottom line - Great value. Great location. Please keep in mind that this is a 2 star MOTEL. Many of the reviewers seem to not know what this means. The location is excellent, right in Whitehall downtown. Restaurants and bars are good and within walking distance. Large room - fantastic for my family and kids, room is very spacious, and is the size of a family apartment. It was clean,homey, and well decorated. Small dual bed room - quaint and small. The beds were comfortable. Would not recommend for a larger person.

Clean, Updated Rooms. Don't judge the book by its cover. Parking lot is very small and can become an issue if arriving late. Self Check In is very cool too, especially for introverts like myself. Definitely will consider this place again when visiting the area in the future. The pretzels and waters in the cabinet/fridge were a pleasant surprise too

Stayed here for a trip to the dunes. It was a little further away than I wanted but it was a quick and easy drive. The bed was so soft, I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. The towels were soft and plentiful. The a/c cooled the room perfectly. I even woke up a little chilly! Bonus: There was a cute notebook with all kinds of fun facts about Michigan. I wasn’t in the room long enough to watch tv. My only complaint is that the shower in my dad’s room (5) was a little small but I would TOTALLY stay here again.
